I was heading out to the reef yesterday and the oil alarm sounded on the starboard mtr.
9 months ago I cleaned out the remote oil tanks and replaced the small inline filterafter a similar problem.
The tank on the motor was not filling and we couldn't get it to fill with the manual switch either. After further examination we are reasonably sure it is the small pump on the side of the remote oil tank. Checked connections and we had power but no noise from the pump. Where it is down near the bilge it's quite a damp position and there was some exterior corrosion evident.
The motors are 2003 200 hpdi's with approx 900 hrs . I am wondering what sort of price they would be in the U.S. as well as if there is anything in the motor that is servicable?

On anothet tack I am having my motors lifted one hole. Just wondered , what height, others with 265's and similar motors are running them at?

Regards from OZ

Thanks richie I wondered if you have ever replaced them before? we pulled both tanks today and one motor(the faulty one ) is especially corroded on the outside and will not go so i figure it is replacement time. I think i saw them for around $150 US. Of course i want my boat for Easter and now the rush is on.......

you could always just add oil to the cowling tank to use the boat

Thanks mate, yeah that what we did last night and it lasted about for about 20 miles, unfortunately most of our trips are around 40-50 miles.
I'll go into the dealers tomorrow and see what they want to slug me for it......I'm guessing at least $300aus. I'll let you know, of course i figure if you've got 2 tanks and motors then while you've got it all out then it's best to do both.....double trouble.

Have you replaced these before ????

My 200HPDI's are in the hole that put the motor as low as possible - what are yours set at?

Mine are on one up from the lowest position and I have no ventilation probs but I struggle to get any more than 5300 rpm lightly loaded.
Hence I will lift it one hole to see if i can get some more revs and less drag.
Prop specialists are saying make sure you have motor height excactly right before swapping out props.

Thankfully most of the time we go in a straight line. Can't see me taking the kids out for a skiing lesson behind the 265. I guess I'll never know unless i try it.......

Thanks Ric, i will do; as i think it could be useful for others. I have managed to find a near new oil pump at less than half new price. As I guessed, new price here is around$350aus.
I hate to sound like a wingeing Aussie but you guys don't know what expensive boating is..........
The old pump was corroded outside and inside.
Whilst in that area I noticed my deckwash pump is on the way out and spraying salt around that compartment. I wondered if anyone has a line on a well priced replacement deck wash pump?
