I have a 27 ft. 97 Sailfish .

I have a bunch of rusted metal flakes appearing in my bilge some are rather large flat chunks. From an initial it appears that the metal bracket that holds the 2 stroke oil reservoirs are corroding heavily which may be the source. (original 2 strokes still running strong!) Id like to replace the brackets - any ideas where I can get replacements? Part #s ect. are appreciated. Also, If you have any ideas where there may be other steel backets or other sources of the rust flakes that I'm seeing in my bilge I'd be keen to know where to look. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or info....

The original if you can find them are expensive and made of steel. Eventually it will rust. There was a poster on this forum years back that sold a stainless version. I don't know it that is still available. Some folks removed the bracket and bolted in a battery tray with a strap to hold the oil tank.

It is possible although less likely that your bracket"s paint is just flaking off and the bracket is still solid. In that case, remove the bracket, strip off it's paint, clean up or treat rust with a rust converter, prime with a goog metal primer and apply a few coats of good paint.
That will hold you.
