My first after dark return to the Marina was brutal due to a lousy light and a terrible installation by previous owner. When I fired The big Jabsco spotlight on to look for markers we were totally blinded. My son yelled at me to shut it off. I looked at the panel and saw a switch that said flood and spot. I switched to spot and tried again. He yelled again that he was completely blinded by the glare of the entire bow of the boat. The light is a flood by any measure. Thus The light was totally unusable.
Yesterday, I installed the Golight LED Stryker with an 8degree spot cone. I mounted the light back 2ft from the leading edge of the hardtop to shield the bow deck from light.F1D1EA2B-FC96-483F-A4EC-223EA734360B.jpeg65659FB0-A62D-42FC-A6B2-CB7A69220FCF.jpeg
I checked it out last night. It’s awesome! I’ve got the wireless remote which is really cool. It has a fast and slow speed which is great. I have no deck glare at all now.

I had a non led one and lord... the hatred of discussing lights on a boat....I totally see a need for one, but have not found it to be on the top of the list yet, not for the cost I have seen.

The one you have sure is a good one though.

The only use I've found is looking for lobster pots and channel markers at night when there is little/no moon.

As cool as one would seem, that is the thoughts I had. Maybe, after I get mine TO water, and get experience behind the wheel, maybe then I might take her out while dark, but not sure right now. For now, I will have a hand-held. Later, I may add something.
but, the remote ones sure are nice.

That’s what we use it for. Making a night entrance to a harbor or tracking markers going home after having dinner up or down the waterway.
