Have any of you heard of putting Bounce fabric softener sheets into your boat during winter storage to keep rodents away? I have heard it twice now and since I am storing in a barn I have a concern about the little SOB's making my F-350 into their winter Condo. I put a box worth in the boat and around the engine. That stuff stinks in volume, if I were a rodent I would certainly move on to the next boat.

I have tried the bounce and mothballs with my snowmobiles
over the years....
My results:
One year I found spring fresh and soft mouse nests in one.....
Another year I drove around smelling like my granmothers house...
...after i scooped the nests out of the air box....
Only thing I have had luck with was Decon bait along with those sticky
traps(forgot) the name.

Setup a few bait stations and snap traps. The bait stations will get them in one feeding. The snap traps are cheap and will let you now if you have visitors. Home Depot or Lowes. For info: http://doityourselfpestcontrol.com/

It works to a point for squirrels in my garden. So does hot pepper but I don't know if those work for mice.

Put a few drops of Peppermint Pure Essential Oil on small cotton balls and place them in strategic spots. The mice hate this smell and drives them away. We use it with good results.
The aforementioned peanut butter and snap traps are also a good compliment to the Peppermint Essential.

A potential problem with the peanut butter is that in my neck of the woods, any food and I mean any, attracts racoons. BTW, my boat is in Brooklyn NY.
