I just purchased a Humminbird 698 ci SI Combo side imaging/down imaging Fishfinder/GPS for my Grady Express 265 with twin Yamaha 225’s.

The unit came with a transom mount side imaging transducer.

Most of the Humminbird instructions are for single engine boats.

Has anyone mounted a side imaging transducer on a 265?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I put one on my Marlin as an isolated backup to the Furuno, mostly for the chartplotter (and I also wanted to evaluate the side imaging technology). It's also the 698. I would think that what works on the Marlin ought to work on the 265 Express, except getting the wire up the transom and into the boat. I mounted the transducer even with the keel, an inch to the right of the drain fitting. The instructions are pretty clear regarding getting the right angle on the transducer. You also want it to be as perpendicular to the keel as you can make it. Mine works great and I like the side imaging/down imaging technology.

John,

My 2005 265 came with a Lowrance HDS structure scan transducer mounted between the twin 225s. I've also got a normal transducer. Both are externally mounted as fischer mentions but my structure scan is to the left of the bilge plug, . Wiring for both run up the stern and then through the hull above the water line but below the top of the splashwell so the cables come into the bilge area under the deck and then follow the rigging tubes up to the console. I've not had any problems running them in that location.
