Simrad AP 26 trouble

My AP 26 will not hold the course setting when I hit the auto button, where to begin to troubleshoot it?

My rudder was set at about 23 isnt it supposed to be set on 0?

By rudder do you mean reference or rudder parms?

Last time I check my lo parms were something like:

rudder: 44
counter : 1.50
autotrim: 40
limit: 25

All of these depend on having your ruddder reference scaled correctly and zeroed.

Make sure you didnt put a piece of metal near your AP compass.

When I say rudder I mean when looking at my Simrad screen it has the heading, below that it says Rate-0, and below that it has "P" on one side "S" on the right and a number in the middle, shouldnt that number be set on 0...........this may be completely wrong but I always remebered it being 0 before and when I noticed the Auto-Pilot not holding I looked down and it was set on 23.....?
