Have had my 1988 232 Gulfstream for almost a year now and still love it a lot. One problem I found is under captain's seat, rear access, there is a compartment that looks like it is for tackle storage. However this one came with nothing in the compartment save some guides on either side. Tried researching plano boxes but they have nothing that size. Approximately 16" wide by 1" high and maybe 6" deep. Anyone have any idea what this compartment is used for and where I would obtain drawers or compartments that would fit in this area?

That tackle storage compartment was made in house by the Grady guys. They used some plano tackle trays and plastic pieces. I tried to fix the one in my 1990 230 but it was not salvageable. I have looked at replacements and there are some that will fit in the space available, but they are about 200 bucks. I have opted for the cheap and left the door cover there and just put 2 plano tackle boxes in there along with a handfull of sinkers, etc.

If you or a friend is a woodworker whip up a custom drawer out of starboard. That way you can have just what you want.

This applies to a Marlin, but maybe it will help.

Thanks for the info Guys. I found the Flambeau Tuff Tainer Zerust boxes C98-05004, 14.25" X 9" X 2" fit perfectly. Also I think the Plano 3700 series will fit as well. Of all places, the best prices were at WalMart! Not the first place I would go but money talks!
