Just wanting to get a little feedback from the brain trust here on repowering a '86 Sailfish with a pair of Yamaha 225's. I have the opportunity to buy a pair of "99 EFI OX 66's with 120 origional hours with all rigging. These motors checked out perfect and are priced right. I realize the horse power will exceed the manufactors suggested limits. That is of some concern, but I'm wondering if anyone on this site has a boat rigged similar or has any opinions on it. Thanks!

Had a '93 252 rigged w/ 225 OX66s. Ended up haveing to repower it w/ 200s just so I could sell it. Unless you're planning on keeping it until the motors die and you have to repower again, don't do it.

The '93 definitely liked the power though...

I have a pair of Yams ox66 2000. Love them and they have never given me any problems. The 4 strokes are nice but heavier so I would check with Grady to make sure whatever engines you decide on will be ok. They do eat lots of oil (I always use the premium stuff) - I burn 2 gallons roughly for every trip offshore to canyons. 120 plus miles not counting trolling.
