I am installing a Furuno thruhull transducer on my adventure 208. I only have room on the keel, since the transducer has a 120deg side to side beam, and I have water intake fittings on both sides of the keel exactly where the transducer should go.
I am either going to install it in the high speed fairing on the keel, which would stick out 1 3/4" down,
or find a good glasser to glass a pocket in the keel.
Does anyone have experience with installing transducers in fairing blocks, and what are the chances it would cause too much ventilation for the prop? I thought the high speed fairing would minimally disturb the water, but would like to do the install right once.
I spoke with Furuno, and other sites, but no real definitive answer.
I greatly appreciate any advice!
