Topping Up Bennett Trim Tab Oil

At one point in time there was a cover.

Grab the other end of that black hose - I suspect it's just snugged/tucked down so as not to possibly collect water. Someone may have put that there to make it a little eaiser to fill.
Thanks Dennis....good call. I'll check.

I'm after some expert advice! I have a 1990 Seafarer 34' Flybridge Cruiser, fitted with Bennett Trim Tabs. I need to fill the ATF reservoir (only accessible by a contortionist!) but am not sure how to do this. Do I need to unscrew the arched cover to access the front-left filler?View attachment 38192
If I remember correctly, you need hydraulic fluid not ATF transmission fluid. But a bottle of the Seastar oil. I also remember a thread a long time ago about using 30 weight engine oil in a pinch:)

Done!! The hose on the front left hand side was tucked behind the unit. I filled the tank direct through the hose - no unscrewing or fiddling about needed. My Seafarer is 35 years old and I suspect that my trim tab assembly and unit are the same age! And the fact that the cover is long gone had me confused. Many thanks for all your advice.
