I have a 2000 192 with the same year Johnson 150 OceanPro 2 stroke. This boat and engine have about 400 hours on them. While out last weekend I receive a "No Oil" alarm light heading back to the marina. The oil reservoir has 3/4 tank and primer ball is rock hard. The alarm light was blinking for a short period (5 seconds) and then the engine would shut off. I would restart, but could not keep the thing running. The alarm light would blink and then go off followed by the engine shutting down. I do add a little oil to the gas just in case the VRO pump would go.

Does this sound like the VRO pump? Could it run fine going out and fail that quickly without any other warnings? Does the whole pump fail at once (maybe why I could not keep it running) or can each side fail independently?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
