I have removed the transom door on a 95 Islander in order to repair some gelcoat issues. Before removal, it seemed as though the hinge (one long piano like hinge) was bent and the door needed to be lifted in order to close. It was like that when I purchased the boat. Question: Should I replace the hinge with two stainless door hinges as is used on the newer boats? The continuous hinge is made from a lighter gauge stainless than the butt hinges used on the newer boats. Anybody else have this issue? The issue is not the screws into the side wall or the door, they are tight. Thanks
