So I've been eyeballing this transom cap on my 265 since I got it an it just seams to be getting weed worse so the plan is this winter to pull motors an have the transom rebuilt how much do yall estimate this to cost? There is also some bulging inside motor well where water drains over! Any ideas to prolong until this winter I was thinking about filling with 5200

It is hard to tell if the cracks are superficial or more serious. They could just be frost expansion cracking The cracking in the second photo may be more serious, again it's hard to tell.
The best advice I can give is to look for movement either with manual force on the motor or when at sea under load. If you don't see movement, just seal with caulk but not adhesive like 5200 until next off season when you can perhaps do appropriate repairs.

I checked for movement the manual way and didn't see any. So I should not use 5200? I have some life seal would that be better??

5200 isn't going to stop further cracking and somebody has to remove it at some point (which is a major pain), the life seal will be fine.

I’ve got everything in place to tackle this job on my 265. Just waiting for a weather window. Got the new style cap from GW. Will post pics when we get to it.

10-4 im going to seal it and then this winter get a local boat builder in Edenton to professionally fix it, I could do it but want the assurance that it was done rite.

How long do you expect it to take to do the job and are you going from the inside or out? Thanks.

I’ve got two automotive engine lifts and once it quits raining we’ll hook up the lifts to the lifting eyes, unbolt the motors and move the boat forward to access the transom. I am primarily doing this to replace the aluminum bang plate, no indication that the transom needs a full rebuild. Fingers crossed.
