Transome

I grew up on the same grady for 32 years and have owned 3 others that were close to that. Never any kind of structural problem, until now. My current 17 year old boat may have a weak transome. I know anything is possible but with the upgraded materials used in the 2000's, is it likely I need my transom replaced? I know I'm kinda a bottom feeder on older boats but I love my gradys and limited funds leave me with older boats.
