Understanding Wiring on Adventure

Hi all,

I'm new at this, and am trying to understand the array of plugs and wires below my dash, around the area of the auxiliary fuse panel. I understand, generally, how fuses work, and the fuse panel has been nicely labelled by a previous owner (or perhaps the factory?). But right next to the fuse panel, I see another set of similar plugs, without any fuse slots. (See image below.) Are these plugs wired directly to the battery? Or is there anything I need to do to 'power' them?

If you want to get into wiring, I would HIGHLY suggest looking at the wiring schematics in the owner's manual. If for some reason it's not in there, try contacting Grady. You can get yourself, and the boat, into some trouble if you don't fully understand what you're doing under there. The labeling is factory - the wiring schematic will explain the wire colors and where everything goes.

The larger red cable in the middle of the picture is your 12V+ supply to the fuses. The lower right hand corner contains your grounds, with what looks like at least one, previous owner-added, device. The empty slot to the left of the "12V" (top left) is just that - an empty slot that is available for an add-on device.

Dennis, thanks very much. I think the answer to my question is that the set of slots next to the fuse panel are the 'grounds'. That makes good sense! I now see the other main cable coming out of that set, which looks like a large, black grounding line.

You can download any year any model Grady white manual from their web site for free. You'll just have to answer their questionnaire to get to the pages you want. As Dennis said the manual has a wiring schematic. Kudos to Grady for providing info like that and even for the older boats.

Thanks all. I actually do have the manual, and the wiring schematic has been helpful in figuring out which wires are for which accessories, etc., but I just couldn't figure out what those plugs were next to the fuse panel. Knowing that those are the 'grounds' is all I needed for now!
