Hello there, I'm a new member!

I rescued this Grady White from a storage auction and want to get it back on the water where it belongs. I know it is 22' and seems to be a dual console. Oddly, the hull is an '84 but the I/O Mercruiser looks like a '95-'96 like I had in another boat before. I'd like to know what model it is and what to look out for.

BTW I had no key so I put a battery in it and jumped it without the ignition on and it cranks and sounds like it has good compression.

you have a grady 224 tournament. you can download a catalog and owner's manual on it from the grady white site.

the same boat was made as the 223 (slot transom outboard) or 225 (bracket outboard) tournaments. they stopped making inboard outboard models in the 80s . the boat hull design is a modified v, and in 1993 the 22' hull changed to a "seavee2" computer design that rides better, and they added bow seats about the same time, but the interior you have is very similar into the late 90s other than you get real teak. if that motor won't go, you are probably better off to update it with a bracket and outboard.

Thanks for the response. I have a good feeling about the motor just because it is just a marine version of a 350 chevy. The out drive is your basic alpha one that is pretty reliable in my experience. Is this the motor it came with or a retrofit? It says Thunderbolt ignition 5.7 mercruiser and has an HEI ignition with a carburetor.
