What is attached to the bottom of this Seafarer??

Even the owner claims he doesn't know what it is! I am looking to move up from a 20' Adventure to a 1990 Seafarer 226 or 228. (not sure how to tell the difference between the 226 and 228) This boat is bracketed with a 2005 225 4 stk Yam, which I hope is not too heavy. The question, however is the "zinc" looking anode attached to the cl of the hull about 4 foot forward of the transom. It hangs down below the keel about 1-1/2" and it's about 7" long, pointed on both ends, and 3" wide at the middle. It doesn't appear to be a pickup of any kind. It looks like a zinc. It has been turned 90 degrees by colliding with the aft trailer roller each time it gets trailered apparently...what the heck is it and is it factory?

That sounds more like a transducer in a fairing block.

Also, if it's turned 90* most likely is leaking, check it when you put boat in the water. The point of that housing should point ahead.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. I have never installed a thru-hull transducer, only the transom mounted style. I would have assumed the thru-hulls would have been almost flush with the bottom of the boat, in case you happened to hit something, heaven forbid. I would also have thought that you couldn't rotate them 90 degrees without shearing off some type of alignment pin to keep them facing forward. Thanks again.

It must have gotten smacked pretty good to rotate it like that. I've installed a bunch of the 'ol bronze footballs, and I bed the hell out of them with 5200...

The engine on a 228 will be bracketed and a 226 will have a standard transom mount.
