I have an Adventure 208 on Lake Huron and I also considered a windless and a bow pulpit. With not much room to work with and anchoring depth of generally under 75' I decided to go a different route. I installed an anchor roller on the bow and sail boat line rollers along the rail stanchion. Now I am able to anchor off of the bow and pull the anchor up from the cockpit with out climbing out on to the bow in rough seas.

I always thought that would be a good idea. Saw a commercial bottom fisherman rig his Parker this way w/ a two anchor setup.

Do you have a photo of how you rigged this up..??

Sorry, I do not have any pictures. If it ever gets above 0 deg., I will go out to the barn and take some for you. I have used it for a couple of years and it works great. I am getting a little too old to be climbing around on the bow when it rough. Here are the parts I used.

I use the lift ring/cleat behind the chain stop. The anchor line runs through the hole so that it lines up with the stop and does not bind.

J-cubed:

Thanks for the reply and links.

I use an anchor retrieval system to get that anchor back up. Here is that link:

Windless was on my mind for a long time before but never happened. Your system would be a nice addition.

Stay warm up there..

A bumper with a mountain climbing ring is the cheapest way.

Nightides, I have one of the same retrieval systems, but I have never used it. Does it work well and is there anything I should know about using it? If it's that much easier I will give it a try.

Works like a charm. I cleat off the spring cleat when I do it but guys also use the stern cleat. Just motor forward of your anchor off 30-45 degrees then both the ball and the boat will bring your anchor to the top. A limp anchor line is way easier to bring in by hand than one with load on it.
