I bought a new 209 in 2004 with a Yamaha 200 HPDI and enjoyed it for 15 years until the kids grew up and moved away. Now that I'm retired, I'd like to get back into a Grady but with a cuddy and more protection.
The 208 would be perfect and will fit nicely on my mooring in season and on my driveway off season. Same hull as the 209 I had, so great for my area.

If I could order one today, here's how I'd configure it.
F250 (or 225), mechanical. The 200 2-stroke was perfect for the 209, so figure F250 would be best match for the heavier 208.
Freshwater system.
Engine Flush.
Portable Head of any version (can also add if missing).
Trim Tabs.
Vista Top with front, side, and drop curtains. I'd be happy with a hardtop w/ curtains too.
No bow pulpit - I need this as short as possible for driveway storage.

A 226 Seafarer would also work with mechanical F250-300. Similar configuration, swim platform, etc.

I'd like as new as possible, low hours, great condition.
I'm in CT, but would transport the right boat.

I've looked at the new 218 and don't really care for it for a variety of reasons.
I scoured the internet for about a month and nothing has popped, so hoping to locate a private party boat.

Thanks,
Ron

There seem to be a lot of them for sale. I have been looking for a 209 and seem to run into 208's at a 3:1 ratio or greater.

I wanted a 208 many years ago and came close to buying one 2x. Even a newer one with a deposit. I ended up with a 180, figuring that would hold me over. Well, it did. I kept it for over 11 years. Greatest boat I have ever owned. Not the biggest but was often mistaken for a 20’er and definitely the highest quality of any production boat ever made.

However, I’m with you regarding the 216/218. The transom does not seem appealing to me. Would have rather seen a bracket than what they did back there.

Do you still have your 209? Is it for sale?

Good luck with your search.

I am going to put my 226 up for sale after our 2-week gag grouper season, which ends on August 15. It has been well-maintained and may be what you are looking for.

Details:

2008 Grady White 226. Due to the Great Recession, it was not put into service until April 2010.

Repowered in 2019 with a Honda BF250, which now has less than 250 hr.

Always stored in a high and dry marina in a freshwater section of the Homosassa River.

Swim platform, trim tabs, head with macerator (removed to increase storage, so never used)

Bimini top with front and side curtains (curtains were never installed).

Like new cushions (never installed)

Simrad EVO3, Simrad 3-in-1 transom-mounted transducer with side scan and Airmar B60 through-hull transducer.

Standard Horizon VHF

Furuno autopilot

ACR EPIRB

Scotty electric downriggers

Additional rod holders

Karavan trailer with Kodiak brakes

I will be asking $40,000.
