I would like to get some thoughts about a boat motor I just purchased.
It is a 2003 90 hp yamaha, carburated. It is on an aluminum boat. The package boat and motor is in perfect condition with signs of very little use. I bought it from a reputable dealer in my area. While I had the motor cover off I noticed every single gasket on the motor did not have paint covering the gasket. On my other yamahas as well as a friend of mine's motors the gaskets are covered with paint. However on one of the engines even the bolts were covered with yamaha paint but not on every motor. They are all diffrent year mods. and sizes. So this inconsistency has me a bit confused because Based on what the dealer told me my engine has never been rebuilt or opened up when I asked. Anybody ever noticed this or have any input on the manufactuer of these things. Do I have a previously damaged engine? It runs great but it has me scratching my head
