When I tried to go fishing this weekend I couldn’t get the port motor started. It would turn over slow. At first it acted like the battery was dead, so I switched to both, and it still wouldn’t crank over. I checked all the connections and changed out the battery but still nothing. I then tried to put power right to the started with a charger and still the starter would spin. I guess I’m looking for ideas to try and thing to test. I didn’t have a volt meter with me at the time but will have one next time I get out there. Does any one know if I put 12 volts with a charger to the starter, if it should of spin or not? What should I try next,

I had an incident earlier this year where the starter motor turned over very slowly and would not start. Problem turned out to be a bag ground - like I forgot to attach one of the ground wires between batteries. Soneone on this group advised me to check the easy stuff first - all the battery connections, then connections on the motor. This sounds like a loose or corroded connection to me.

It depends on the charger. Unless it is a booster/charger, it won't have enough amperage to crank the motor. As mentioned by others, it sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Check the connection bewteen the two batteries first (ground connection)
