Okay, so...I get it, all boats are different, and to get an exact match you need to measure, but just because I am a curious sort...lol....the 258 vs the 268 or 270....shouldn’t the hard tops be dang near identical, I mean, same beam, almost identical consoles etc....just curious how different.

And, remember...not getting the 258 top, but I am bored and trying not to shop ebay for more reels so posting here lol

P.s. may have a shipper for less than my cost to drive.
Not sure if they have to report their tips to pay part of them, but hoping they get I am a tipper heh

I just realized something...

Jerry emailed and hopes to have a quote for me today on a top. Part of that quote is expected to be like $600-ish for the box they plan to ship it in, $800 minimum to ship it, the cost of whomever to agree to recieve it for a guy they never met.. then installing it myself OR paying someone to do labor on something they did not make..

I have been working out details to get the boat shipped from Bradenton, FL to Cedar Creek, TX.

If I shipped it to Wilmington, NC instead and let them install it and then ship it from there to me... I do not get to see it a little longer, BUT.. it may well wash on the costs and the install should be perfect.

Gggrr.. I hate when I think things through and cause me to have to force myself to be more patient.. lol

If it's a wash or close to it, I'd be dropping the boat in NC and have top installed, then continue on its journey to TX. You'd need to recruit help if you choose to do it yourself, not saying you couldn't do it, but having something that visible as a hardtop, I'd opt for professional install if you've never tackled something like this before.

110 dollars less to let them install the top vs sending it to me. I do not count one leg of the shipping as it is a wash as well. Apples to apples it is less to send it to them.

Still, with tax, it is 10.5k...but worth it imo

Okay... so here is the dealio....heh

They cannot get the top installed for about 6 weeks. So.. the boat is mine. I would ship it to them on the week of the 22nd-26th. They would take 1-2 weeks then I would uship it to Texas.

I think it is worth the wait. The past owner will hold it till the end of April for me... getting the trailer fixed anyway.

UPDATE:

Okay, so..boat will stay in Florida for about 5 weeks:(

While there, the bimini and radar arch will get removed and the wntire boat gets an inspection.
In 5 weeks, uship will take it to WMW for a OEM HARDTOP, elec box, spreader lights, done light, 5 rockets up top, 4 rockets on sides, enclosure, etc...then shipped to me;)

That right there will be worth the wait!!! I love my hardtop, wouldn't have this style boat without one. And you'll know you're getting a Grady specific one instead of having one fabbed up. You'll be happier in the end.

Now I have to wade through the uship quoters telling me how they have expenses and 2400 to drive the boat 9 hours is a good price...okay, 760 miles, under 11 hours

My truck could do it in a day with 2.3 tanks of gas...a diesel could do it easy.

Not cheap, but wow...there must be a lot that fall for that.

That is the best play. Have it installed by the guys that do it every day and know how to do it.

WOO HOO! Check the name, baby! No more RussGW232.. it is o-ficii-al! RussGW270! Thanks mods ;)

Anyways, it will hurt for a month or two.. paying 10k.. but, seriously.. Jerry originally tole me the top alone would probably run 6500. The top was just over 4300. The enclosure added in, was just over 1500.

I added every dadgum thing I could think of.. lol.. I figured, once you have those two things, the rest is gravy.

I need to make sure they add 2 rockets per side of the frame.. that will give me like 9 rockets. I like things up and out of the way :p

Will make sure they know I will be adding Sirius as well as a radar, eventually, so they can go ahead and make room for that. I doubt I will ever add outriggers, hell.. I have enough trouble keeping my own lines from being tangled.. lol. If I really need them, I will add the side ones.

Anything else I am missing to add?;)

are you getting the grady style hump top? with electronics box with pipe for wires? Thats a great price.

usually $100 for every rod holder after the first 4.

The ones on the sides, are they welding them or are they clamp on? Reason I ask is then the angles are fixed forever, can't change them.

Did you think about zip windows (aka smileys) in the front and side enclosures or will they rollup whole?

Most of the Gradys with tops have a zippered mesh life jacket bag up top.

You'll want a white/red helm light on the bottom of the electronics box and , of course, LED spreader lights. Your All Around white Anchor light will need to be moved to the top.

hahahah, I love spending OPM!!!

Yes, it will be the standard GW with the hump;)

I was just wondering about the side ones and thinking they could hold trolling rockets of they swivled or whatever.

Not sure about the windows, Jerry just added a “full eisenglass enclosure”
I will ask Monday.
He added a bag that costs like 450....cannottell what it is. I assume the enclosure storage.
All those lights, yes, plus I will get a Sirius sat antenna added for a future sirius radio I will pick later.

Have him put the Lumitec white/red helm light in, it also controls the spreaders. It's a touch sensor switch, no buttons. The newer Grady's are using these. It's LED,,,,thank me later,,,,,,20170803_214803.jpg20170803_214704.jpg

My GPS has an internal antenna but the option external one is a little more precise and I don't worry about interference from the hardtop, clear view of the sky.
