I found a good substitute for replacing the stained arm rests on the Sailfish helm chairs. I have the rubber replacement covers and they are always getting dirty and they love to grab tee shirts. I found these on Amazon. The right side is the rubber replacement and the left is the sock. The color is pretty close to a perfect match to the GW upholstery.
The price is 12.50 for 3 pairs.

hard to tell the difference in the pic. the rubber replacement covers are like magnets. I like the sock idea.

Sounds like a great solution. Please let us know what size and the color you selected. Raw yarn?

Just tell them your buddies with ex Jets coach Rex Ryan. Learn the Wes Welker schtick....

I was using the socks for years on my 265. After trying everything else (covers, bleach/dish soak soak, etc). Loved the socks. I used a low cut navy sock (white was getting dirty fast) i found on amazon, something like 6 to a box for $15 or so.

So... would my fishing buddies accuse me of having a ladies foot fetish if I use them?
There should be a distinction between accusing and confirming;)

US Shoe size 9, 5-11 and the color is Natural Yarn

Cant actually believe I'm on Great Grady talking about women's shoe size. My wife was wondering why I was buying ladies socks -
Try to explain that one. :)

Thank you Captain. I just placed the order via Amazon Prime. Now to explain this to my wife that the socks are not hers.

Look at the awful shape that mine are in. I spoke to my local Grady dealer and they said that Pomponette will only provide the entire armrest assembly for about $450. I hope that the socks work.

They should work perfect. Since you arm rest are rough you may want to just put an old ankle socks on first and then cover with the new ones.

OK...I ordered some but keep this under your hat. If I come to grief over my acquiring womens garments, I have the list of possible leaks right here in this thread.:D

It's really a shame that this issue has never been addressed by Pompanette or GW. These arm rests were obviously not produce using a material that meets the environmental requirements for the application. They should be either producing replacement arm rests constructed with an improved material for a reasonable price, or producing a vinyl cover that fits over the existing arm rest.

We should not all have to purchase women's socks on Amazon to address this known issue.

Agree, and this problem isn't limited to Pompanette either. The armrests on my Wise seats are worn out too. Same issue.

I think I'd contact Pompanette directly. I've had good luck getting parts from them in the past. Maybe they will help you out. Show them the picture, it may nudge them....

I got the arm and internal parts to fix the deluxe helm 2 folding arm rests....

Toothpick-they do make vinyl covers. Either Grady or Pompanette. They are definitely more expensive than the socks!! Mine were purchased by the previous owner so I don't know what the cost is.

I got this response from Pompanette earlier this month about the spotted arm rests on my '05 Tournament 225 (same chair as Legend has on his Sailfish)

Please see below for pictures of your options.
There is a repair kit which is a "skin" which is glued over your existing arm or
a complete arm assembly, which includes metal supports.
They cost $95.00 and $175.00 respectively.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

How did you get the socks to fit so snugly & smoothly? Just ordered them and will install next week. Thanks, John

It was really a self install the natural yarn stretches and just conforms perfectly to the arm rest.

Installed mine last week. I bit of tugging towards the back of the armrest and they fit great. Nice that once they get dirty, toss them in the wash or away and put on a fresh pair. Thanks for the tip!
