Just finished rigging my 180 Grady with dual Optima batteries which I moved to under the console. It was originally a single battery hook-up. I figured 100 lbs. less on the stern is a good thing, especially if I ever go to a 4 stroke. I also moved the battery switch and 40 amp breaker (used to power fuse board) to under the console.

Too bad, would have liked to have seen this...

More weight forward is a good idea. Did you use the proper size battery cables for the length of run needed?
That was my first thought. Also wondered if the new battery cables ran all the way to the motor or tied into the old ones.

Longer run to motor, shorter run to battery switch/fuse panel.

Why would the run from battery to switch be shorter? He moved switches to helm area. They were originally aft I believe where the batteries were.

That's what I meant, he'd be relocating switch to fuse panel, my bad.

Never heard back from him, yet. Maybe he just duct taped the old battery cable end to the new one nice and tight. Should be good 'nuff and he saved some money!
