After a long but enjoyable process the detailing is finally completed. Compounding, with areas of wet sanding has bought back to original gelcoat colour. Replaced all decals and hullstripes. The ceramic coat has given it a great gloss and hopefully long term protection, considering the boat is stored indoors.

She has a new name. The “Shady Lady” was my partner’s nickname for it as we waited for it to be shipped from the US. A bit of googling revealed it was also a US crewed B17 Liberator bomber that flew out of Darwin with the RAAF during WW2. That fitted with my interest in WW2 aircraft. The “Shady Lady” was a pretty lucky plane as well. I used the original font from the B17.

An interesting read.

You watch. Next trip a marlin will decide to rough-up the gelcoat with it’s bill. I know first world problems.

Is that a complete new glass or did they just stitch in new glass?

No new glass or gelcoat. Did it all myself.
I machine compounded the gelcoat with areas of wet sanding where oxidization was worst and then ceramic coated it.

Great work and the attention to detail. The two stainless spots on the bow can you post better pics and did you add those?

Yes, I added those. They are Megaware Scuff Buster Notched which is under the bow roller. The other is Megaware Scuff Buster XL Bow Guard. Will get some photos tomorrow.
