yup, got bit by the Seastar gremlin this past weekend. found replacement kit online. However, my question is this; has anyone experienced leaking fluid from the hose connection nut fitting? I can wipe the fluid from the ram and suspect replacing the endcaps with new fittings from the replacement kit, but have not found info on any leaking from the nut (may be leaking). Did not see replacement nuts in the kit, only tool, end caps, and seals.

Do you have short hoses from the hydraulic ram to a bulkhead fitting in the engine well? That is how mine are setup. I blew one of the hoses and replaced both. Readily available.

You should change these as a preventative measure from time to time. If they blow (happened to me) all steering is lost. I was lucky to have time to straighten the motors out and then use the binnacles to bring her in. Changed all (4). On my boat, one motor was 4' length, the other 7'. The std size was 4' and 8'. The firm I bought them from made them and did a pair of 7' for me.
