Replace those popout pie plates with screw type plates.

Good tip! What size waterproof hatch did you use to replace the pie hole plate on the aft deck cover? I should replace it while the deck is off

Thanks!!! I thinking about recessing the deck cover flange like the original pie cover. The cover will be flush to the deck if I can do it correctly.

The Tempress hatch that I used closes over the top of the flange. So it will stick up higher than the flange even if you recess it.
There was another more expensive brand that closed flush inside of the flange. I don't remember the brand

Having it all above deck level makes the water go around it.

Check TH Marine for hatches - they usually have a nice selection. Nice company, too -- they make some of their own things - not sure about the hatches, though.
