Water filter for 330 Express

My first reaction was that If you want to drink or brush your teeth with boat water, I would rethink that idea.
General washing can be OK but if your boat sits for a while in the sun or hotter climates, the water will develop organic gunk . Adding a small amount of bleach to the water tank can slow down growth, but you still wouldn't want to drink it.
To a large extent, your fresh water quality depends on how warm your boating environment gets and how frequently your water tank is emptied, flushed and refilled.

The Seagull products state that they filter out a lot of contaminants but they are expensive to buy and fairly expensive to maintain. In addition they require supply water pressure they may be greater than your water system normally produces ( 25 to 100 psi or so). In addition, I would also recommend frequent flushing and refilling of the water tank to prolong filter life. I don't know if you have hot water in addition to cold but if you do, I am not sure how you woud address the requirement to also filter hot water

You can buy a lot of bottled water for the cost of the system but I suppose that isn't practical for long duration cruising.

On our 305 Express we installed one of these filters and could not have been happier with it. Yes not cheap but beats the heck out of bottle water and all the trash that make's. I will say we stayed on the boat a lot like every Fri-Sun end or March till end of Nov. We always showered on boat so we went through onboard water fast. Never had the water taste odd. We currently have the same setup on our current boat with no issues.

Do you operate in a salt water environment? I was wondering how well the hardware holds up in salt air.
Is your shower water filtered?

We are on the Chesapeake Bay above Annapolis so brackish water. Some salt but nothing like true ocean water salt. The unit is very well built and I don’t see why it would not hold up in a salt water area. We only had it installed for two years before we sold the boat so I can’t really say how it will hold up.

Our current boat has had it for three years and it still looks brand new.

Are you using it only for galley sink water or other uses

Good to know that it has held up.
