Canyon 271

Just sold my 2001 282 with 200hpdi's, picking up a new to me 2017 Canyon 271 next week. Wanted to hear from others who own or have been on one how they like it and things they have done or would do to them.
 
I recently purchased a used 271 and overall I feel it is a good ride. It is really a big 27 footer and the beam is great. I think wings are a good addition as you can get some spray depending on the wind.

One thing I noticed is I have trouble getting the boat to rev to 6000 RPM. Not sure if that is due to bottom paint and wings, but I am only seeing 5500 RPM with a few bars of trim. If others with a 271 can comment on how much trim they need to get to 6000 RPMs would be helpful.

Thanks for responding, The wings are coming with the boat which I think is good as well, will help keep the wife dry on those days!!!
 
Congrats!

I have the 306. The 271 is basically the same, just a bit smaller. You are going to love it.

When you get it, try to see if five gallon barrels fit in the transom fish box. They fit on my boat. I out two in. One for stuff and one for trash (has a hole cut in the lid).

that sounds like the wrong props or weak motors

The props are correct and recent compression tests are good. I assume it is not enough trim, wings and algae growth, but that is why I am curious what trim other 271 owners need to get 6000 rpms.

what power do you have and what props?

did it previously kit 6k before the bottom god dirty?

2 x F300 with 15 1/4 x 19 props, same as the performance bulletin online.

I don't have much history as the boat is new to me. I think also looking at maintenance records the spark plugs are due for a change. It is likely a culmination of factors. I really need to give it some extra trim, so far only tried about 1/4 of the trim range. But I am hoping a 271 owner can confirm how much trim they need to get to 6k rpm.
