Curious how everyone keeps their boat’s records; spreadsheets, paper logs, or an app? I recently launched AFTWISE™, which brings equipment, maintenance history, trips, and documents together on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I built it as a boat owner and would welcome feedback from others. Details at aftwise.com

I use the YachtWave app, which is free for personal use, up to three boats. (Offers upgrade to premium, paid service for fleet managers / commercial enterprise.)

Thanks, Iced-D. How long have you been using it? Are you mainly using it for maintenance records, or keeping manuals and receipts in there too? Curious what’s worked well for you and whether there’s anything you still end up tracking separately or wish it did that it doesn't?

I was going to give the app a try to see how it looked, but was disappointed that I have to pay before I could even see what the screens look like. I was hoping to give it a try to give you some feedback. I would suggest making the first month free without having to pay you might get more people to look at it.

You don't pay anything, the first month is free. Nothing charges until after the first month if you decide to keep it. Take a look at the website, it does a pretty good job of explaining the app. www.aftwise.com

You’re right, though, I just checked and you can’t see the screens before deciding, I'm working on a fix for that. I appreciate you letting me know.

I use a spreadsheet with several tabs. I don't dislike the idea of an APP. However, my needs are pretty simple.

I use a log book, it keeps maintenance notes, repair issues, things to do and outing summaries ( fishing cruising etc.)
The log book is in date order of course so some times I have to go through the logs to find a specific event.

Recently I read a story about the origin of the Log Book. It was very entertaining. Do you know how the term came about?

Finding an old repair or service entry is one of the things I wanted to make easier with the app along with the reminders and alerts for maintenacne items. I haven’t heard the story behind “logbook” enlighten me.

Also, a quick follow-up for anyone who wanted to look around: version 1.0.0.1 (for IOS phone and iPad) is now out (MacOS should be updated this evening), and you can explore the app now without it starting a subscription. Billv, thanks for pointing that out. If you already downloaded it, update to the latest version.
