I swapped out my OX66's last year on my '97 marlin.. originally wanted the yammie 250's... but there were no engines available for repowers... it was a 6 month wait if you could source them... so i talked to a lot of people and started to look seriously at...

we are running the 3/16/18.5's.... ive found that you have to use the tilt trim and start with them all the way down to get the best grip with the holeshot... then trim up depending on conditions once on plane.... our engines are mounted ont he 2nd hole hole pattern from the top....

I originally had the 250 ox66's on my '97 and was looking at a few different options... after pricing it all out and talking to a seemingly endless amount of people... i decided to go with the zukes and go up to the digital 300's (basically the same engine as the 250's with a different computer)...

... look at Suzuki 300's... i re-powered my 97 marlin last year with them... the digital 300 zukes were very close to the same price as 250 mechanical Yammies... even with all new rigging... and the digital system is great... throttles can be touchy... but they are exponentially smoother than...

... i had them done by a local upholstery shop for my Marlin... it was right around a "nautical unit"...

... soo... i guess im a little naive... and im looking for a better power solution for overnight canyon trips on my non-genny marlin as well.... but i see a lot concerns with the exhaust of a small portable genny on the swim platform... im just curious as to what would be the difference between...
