    Loose steering wheel

Anyone know if there is a way to lube the pivot/u-joint on the tilt mechanism? Even after taking off the old one, I couldn't see any way to lube anything. Probably not a big deal, but I was shocked how badly worn that part of the assembly was.

    Loose steering wheel

Well, I finally got around to this project on the 2005 270. I thought I'd include a couple details that might avoid a headache: If you have the steering wheel shown below, you will need an 1⅝" 6 point socket. No one had one locally, but Amazon had one for $12. Put electrical tape over the nut...

    How to oblong a hole?

Using the step bit to "chew" out a larger hole?

    How to oblong a hole?

Same helm, just a new tilt mechanism. The old one moves with the precision and refinement of a well used vintage tractor.

    How to oblong a hole?

Dennis, After considering how much material I'd have to remove and the mess it would make, I'm reconsidering filling and drilling the holes out. I think the pump clears on the bottom with the original holes. I'd only have to fill the top holes and redrill. Home Depot has fast cure marine JB weld...

    How to oblong a hole?

I'm in the process of replacing my binding, squeaking tilt helm. All was going well till that SOB Murphy showed up. The new and required mounting plate has the holes drilled ⅛" off from the original. When I try to mount the helm pump to the plate, the pump hits the hole in the fiberglass. I...

Got the attention of the GW merchandise people

I still have mine. It has to be at least 12 years old. It is actually a liner for a coat. I typically wear it under a shell on the boat.

Do you know your buttock location?

Ultimately I wonder how close bunks need to hit on these points. Grady hulls are so thick that I can't imagine being off +/- 4" would matter.

Do you know your buttock location?

I am certainly not the authority on all things boats, but I thought I would have heard of this before, but haven't. What does this mean? Bunk and buttock https://answers.gradywhite.com/customers/s/article/Bunk-Locations

SEM vinyl paint - it's done!

Did you top coat yours with anything? Clear or 303? It wouldn't surprise me if SEM and Rust-Oleum are the same stuff. Rust-Oleum is a Sherwin Williams company. I saw the testimonials over on THT and thought I'd give it a go. SEM claims to have high levels of UV inhibitors. I also wonder if there...

SEM vinyl paint - it's done!

Thanks. The lawn is overdue for a mow. It won't stop raining here for more than a few hours at a time it seems. Spring in Ohio will give Seattle a run for its money!

SEM vinyl paint - it's done!

If this stuff holds up half as good as people claim, I'll have no complaints. Super easy to work with. Dries quickly. 2 cans did everything in my cockpit and a cushion in the cabin. The 1st 2 are before, 3 is side by side. Essential this stuff is liquid vinyl. The prep spray softens the...

    New Grady-White Freedom 265

Looks like a nice design. My only concern would be the windshield. I'm sure you would be fine seated, but I'm guessing your getting blasted in the face when standing. It's one of the few complaints I have on my boat.

    330 Express RePower

It is, but that was 2 years ago. He might have edited his post after my comments. Or I had sniffed too much glue that day. ;)
