    Brandon Gross, Whos Following Along?

He hit a couple of my favorite spots. One of which I had hoped wouldn't come up. It's getting too crowded! My son is often an enthusiastic boating participant. Despite our best efforts, my daughter is often a stick in the mud. The irony is that when she got to see the places we have gone on a...

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

That's wild! And that's exactly my suspicion. Yes, Erie. The chop can be brutal. I haven't been to Erie, PA, but the Cleveland waterfront and river has some interesting sights in a relatively small area. Hopefully you got to also see the beautiful beaches around the Cedar Point area and the...

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

Did you not have a loop before? If you didn't have a loop, was water getting in?

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

There is no loop. Considering the hoses for my black water tank were plumbed backwards, it wouldn't surprise me if all of this is from a lack of a loop. We often get nasty chop in these parts. I'm confident water goes into the thru hull in these conditions. I also get it when pulling the tube at...

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

I appreciate the ideas. I don't suspect I have water sitting in the tank area. I've pulled the pie plates and the tank is spotless - like new - zero funk from moisture. I think plugging off the tubes to isolate water entry is a good start.

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

The 270 uses bronze thru hulls and look like new. I suspected the bilge discharge up front till a few days ago. I had a little water in the aft bilge, but zero up front. Because the front of the hull is lower than the back, I would think that indicates the water has to be coming from the back...

    Bilge pump water intrusion?

Does your bilge pump have a check valve or a vent loop? I ask because I suspect that water in my bilge is coming in from my thru hull and back down my bilge discharge. I only have water when it gets rough and the boat rocks more significantly. I've checked for water along the every thru hull I...

Installing LiFePo house battery on GW 2 + 1 battery setup

I suspect that in time GW may change their battery configuration once Yamaha blesses the use of LiPos. Looks like you have created a game changer for yourself. Working in my bilge is a major PIA. I was so happy to button everything up and be done with fresh batteries that should last me a long...

    Repower 330 Express

Not trying to be a wise-guy, but did you try full to starboard? I never damaged mine, but I had the same concern. I always keep mine full port before tilting for similar reason. You could also try to keep them centered and use a steering ram wedge to keep in the ideal position. The tube you are...

Installing LiFePo house battery on GW 2 + 1 battery setup

I'm now part of the club! My Ionic is in and all is well. I love the ability to look at my battery to see what I'm using and SoC. Game changer! My inverter seems happier as well. Thank you for the help and paving the way!

    Yamaha 350 vs 300?

    The Hull Truth = THT

    Yamaha 350 vs 300?

I have yet to see if any reliability issues with the new 350. As for noise, I'd post over on THT to see that the consensus is. As for the need, it depends on your priorities. An extra 50 HP on that hull will only net you a few more mph on the top end and better power across the board, but not...

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

Yes, tabs and engine trim can help to lift the stern and plane at lower speeds, but the right prop provides even more lift allowing for the planing speed to be reduced further. Yes, the props efficiency plays a part too. The prop efficiency drops as rpm decreased. This is where Sharrow claims to...

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

Planing is a result of the reactive force on the hull producing lift as it pushes through the water. As the speed increases, the lift increases until planing is achieved. If the prop geometry is such that it creates stern or whole boat lift, it then reduces the planing speed by effectively...

Installing LiFePo house battery on GW 2 + 1 battery setup

Turns out the info was easier to find than I thought. A isolated charger can be used in an unisolted application. The grounds are connected. For reasons I can't understand, the "experts" did not tell me anything about the need for fuses. They are on order.
