    fresh water pump on 228

Thanks for the reply. I tried it with the aerator unscrewed and it did the same thing. I will try to rap the side of the pump and see what happens.

I have a 2009 228 and I am having problems with my fresh water system. The pump was running continuously and I was only getting spits and spurts so I cleaned the strainer, which was full of crap, and now the pump with not come on. It is getting power since I can feel it vibrating but the pump...

    cost for waxing

has anyone paid to have their boat waxed recently? I was quoted a price of $25/foot for hull and all top surfaces except non-skid. I think that this is a little high.

    Boat Lengths

According to GW dimensions spreadsheet the 228 is 27'-3" from swim platform to bow pulpit. It's 29'9" when you add the motor. Just had to measure mine to make sure it would fit in the rack at the high and dry. If you contact GW they will send you a spreadsheet with all of the dimensions of...

    Seafarer 226 Length on trailer

I have a 2009 228. The length of the boat alone is 29 feet from engine to bow pulpit. You can subtract the length of the bow pulpit to get back to the trailer eye, so you're probably around 27 feet for the boat alone. Just add the distance from the winch to the hitch. Sounds like you already...

    Removing diesel soot

I have 2009 228 that I keep in a "high and dry" facility. I am getting a large amount of soot on the boat from the fork lifts. This stuff is terrible, it gets everywhere and as soon as you step on the boat you track it wherever you walk. I'm having the marina move me to the rear of the shed...

    228 performance

New update Talked with Ken at Prop Gods and he recommended a four blade 17” pitch prop. I ordered one from him and received it in four days. Changed the prop this weekend and the difference in performance was amazing. 30 mph cruise at 4200 and the boat stays on plane down to 15-16 mph without...

I just got it back from the prop shop and it checked out perfect. I’m going to try a 15.25 x 19 and see what is does. I’m getting 6100 rpm at WOT so I think that I might be under proped

    228 performance

I contacted my local dealer, who is very knowledgeable and willing to help with anything that he can, and he advised me to check the outboard bracket for water before I spend a bunch of money on a prop. He added that this probably is not be the whole problem since the WOT rpms are higher than he...

Draining water from the bracket on a 228G

I did as Dennis suggested and the remaining portion of the plug came out very easily. But much to my surprise there was no water at all in the bracket. I have a problem staying on plane below 4000 rpm and my top speed is much lower than it should be. I was really hoping that the bracket was...
