    Raw water winterization

I havn't had to do this for many years since moving the boat to Fla, but when I had it up in NJ over the winters I used to do it this way: 1) disconnect the raw water intake hose from the sea-cock. (under the cabin step in my boat) 2) insert piece of clear plastic hose into the raw water intake...

    Enclosure thoughts

Yes, that is what I have on my Trophy Pro. one panel above each half of the front windshield with U shaped zippers in each panel that fold down and attach to the windshield frame with snaps. They create two "rolls" along the top of the inside edge of the windshield that don't interfere with...

    Boating after dark - options?

Get the Garmin radar and as said above USE IT during the day when you really don't need it in order to learn what the screen is really showing you. AND, like any other piece of equipment on the boat, if you do not exercise it regularly, you never know if its going to work when you NEED IT after...

Lessons learned while boating official thread

Told her when we first started boating, "on land she may be the Boss, but on my boat I am the Captain!" She never comes out on the boat anymore. :)

    Engine speed Question

Don't confuse RPM at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) with normal cruising speed. You are fine cruising at 3500 to 4500. If seas allow and you don't mind burning more fuel, go faster if you'd like. For best long term engine health your props and engine height mounting should allow your motors to...

2002 Seafarer Trolling Motor install advice

Here is a link to my posts about the 96" Rhodan I installed on my 25 TrophyPro. https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/rhodan-on-88-trophy-pro-cool-upgrade-2.37275/#post-262586 I highly recommend the Rhodan, with the single 36 volt LiFePo4 battery. I mounted my battery in the large compartment...

    Fuel Tank Issue

See above, its either a venting/air lock issue, bad fuel selector valves, or clogged gas pick ups/fuel lines. VERY curious to see how the OP makes out.... I had a similar issue a couple years ago, was getting a "code 137" (insufficient fuel) on my new Evinrude G2's which the dealer was...

    Fuel Tank Issue

Yes, your pic shows the fuel valves are set to draw gas only from the aux tank for both motors. So, are you saying that your issue is when you have your motors running from the aux as in your pic, and you turn both those valves to the main tank the motors die and wont restart? If so, to...

    Fuel Tank Issue

"huh?" ..."exactly"...LOL! Skunk is correct. There are two valves that determine which tank the fuel is being drawn FROM to run each motor. Poiny end of the valve handle towards stern is AUX. Pointy end towards bow is MAIN. (on my boat) BOTH towards stern = both motors running off AUX BOTH...

    Fuel Tank Issue

Hmm...sounds like there might still be enough gas up in the fill tube that is blocking the vent. Try removing the fill cap on the main, insert a siphon hose and remove a gallon of gas. (just pour it back into the aux) That may eliminate the vent blockage stopping main tank fuel flow?

    welding hardtop support

I’ve already welded some major cracks years ago, and recently had another minor crack develop on a hardtop support. Ended up buying a couple of these and clamped one down tight on the cracked portside pipe, and put another one on an uncracked stbdside pipe just to make it match visually...

Trolling motor install on 282 Sailfish

I don't think that is a great idea. You will be amazed at how much torque that Rhodan generates....that plus the wave action and currents pushing on the motor head leveraged by the long shaft is going to cause stress cracks and possibly result in the pulpit breaking apart.

Trolling motor install on 282 Sailfish

Now that I have some experience with the 96" Rhodan on my Trophy Pro (same hull as Sailfish), I can tell you NEED AT LEAST the 96". Unless you are only gonna fish bluebird flat days with no swell, the prop is definitely going to cavitate with an 87".
