Yup done two of them. both in the same place. You can see it on the right next to the speeker and on the left side if you look close is the outboard flush so I dont have too lean over the transom

You can use either,tran,shoot through or through hull. Going to have to decide what is best for you. I have a Through hull on mine working great.

You are correct about moving the fuel tank in the 228 and changing the ride of the boat. In fact I spent many hours and lots of computer time with GW factory and not only had there blessing they are very aware of the up side. So by all means call the factory they will be more then happy to...

Our local supplier has the Starboard sheets and you can buy 1' by 4-8' That was more then enough to make two for my old Explorer.
