    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

My engines are mounted as low as they can go. My props are Suzuki watergrip stainless steel props . 4x15.25x22P. The holeshot is definitely a bit sluggish compared to the v6 250 etecs i had before, but im not complaining at all. Its a well worth it trade off for all other performance metrics...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Hey guys, Just wanted to give an update. Turns out suzuki has backordered all of their mechanical V6s for some reason. Digital is all that's available right now. So I decided to go with the i4 200APs with 15.25" 22P 4 blade props, and man I couldn't be happier. Got the boat back in the water...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Yes thanks. I'm very familiar with sunset marine. Unfortunately after taxes labor props parts and rigging etc the mercurys are still way more money than the Suzukis. By like 10k dollars. If they were in the ballpark I would have already pulled the trigger on the digital merc 225s. Unfortunately...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

The sailfish seems similar in specs. 9'6" beam 32 gallon freshwater 202 gallons of fuel 5500lb dry weight The 272 has the euro transom. So it is the stepped hull before they took the running surface all the way to the transom in 2000, I think. Which they did to add more buoyancy to the...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

I'm surprised you're getting 1.8mpg. Cruising normally at over 5000rpm seems a little hard on the engines to me though. I do get the 21st century argument for sure. New 225 V6s just seem like they would provide more torque and get better mileage being able to cruise 30-3at a lower rpm. Do you...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Thanks for all the input. I'm definitely in a better position to pull the trigger than I was. Gonna sleep on it and make a call.

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

I wouldn't say any of those things bug me. I haven't ever experienced the fly by wire. I have managed without it obviously. I do plan to keep the boat longer than 7 years. My mechanic friend who works at a dealer is giving me a deal on the suzukis. So no I haven't priced hondas. Not really...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Ok guys, I think Ive decided against the 200s. Don't want to risk being underpowered and losing the torque of the V6. I typically run with full gas tanks and pretty loaded down, so want the power when i need it. Just need to make a decision between the mechanical 225 and digital 250. I tested...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

It's a '95 so has the stepped bottom euro transom.

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Right, that was my only other concern. If Im pushing the 200s hard and consitently operating at higher rpm, my fuel burn probably won't be that great and it will increase wear on the engines. Right now I get about 1.3 average cruising with my etecs. If I'm going to spend 50k on a repower I would...

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Thanks for the input here. Hopefully Skunk Boat chimes in. Interested to hear his numbers. The 272 is a bit bigger but comparable as you said. Wondering what Skunk boats loaded weight is. I typically run mine pretty loaded and its all offshore fishing in SD. Just paranoid about being undergunned...

Absolutely!! I think 225s are the way to go just really wanted the fly by wire.
