Absolutely typical for the trim motor to rust like that. It doesn't mean it is good or that you shouldn't consider replacing at some point, but certainly don't look too deeply into why, it happens on almost all of them, including the two on my lift kept F250s.

Are you not able to use the platforms built into the hull for the transducers(one on each side) They take away the angles for that reason? Do side scan not work there?

It is likely the prop shaft seal. I tried replacing mine, twice, still leaks, I think the prop shaft has a small nick in it causing this. You could try replacing seal, only other option as mentioned is to replace the entire lower, about 600 bucks. Mine leaks so little that I need to top off...

I ran the stock 3 blades and switched to the Merc Rev 4s. IMO didn't make much difference. I run mine with a little more RPM, around 4700-4900 and get 29MPH, sometimes a touch more, with them.

Consider the 330 if you are looking to overnight and cruise with family. The helm offers much better accommodations as does the cabin. Otherwise, the Marlin will give you the same ride and fishability as well as performance.
