    Eisinglass enclosure restoration

Good point. I am in New England so it is a different sun than say Florida. My boat is uncovered from April through November and on the water from early May to late October . Perhaps these products dissolve the UV protection but replace it with another protective wax? I haven't investigated...

    Old bottom paint removal

On the subject of soda ( or other media ) blasting of bottom paint, i contacted 4 companies in the New England area with the following result for my 26.5 ft boat. The price for this service alone was not less than 1500 dollars. if they had to travel, the distance added to the price. the boat...

    Eisinglass enclosure restoration

Always good to challenge conventional wisdom (I suppose?) ....... ..My 2001 Grady Express 265 has enjoyed the benefits of both Pledge and Rain X on my isinglass windows (front, side and rear) for only about 20 seasons and I would rate their visual clarity as still excellent. Note that all...

    Old bottom paint removal

Understand. Thanks To all, l am still trying to Goggle mobile soda blasters (and every other combinations of possible names) as it is clear that service for my situation would be best by far. I'll let you-all know what I find. There have to be a lot of non-trailered boats in the area of...

    Old bottom paint removal

I wouldn't if I didn't have to. My boat is launched in early MAY and stays wet until late OCT so the growth of grass, slime and barnacles would be off the charts even by mid summer without it. I wish there was another practical way other than paint. Thanks

    Old bottom paint removal

Ha! Thanks Deep Blue. It is probably worth exploring that alternative, but I was unaware that there were those products that really worked -especially for say an 8 (?) coat build up. It might be fun to try a chemical stripper however. ;)

    Old bottom paint removal

Thanks to all for the information and caveats and I will explore all the options suggested. I'll also let you know what I discovered. I don't trailer my 265 Express, so a mobile service would have great advantages. Otherwise I would launch the boat in the spring , run it to the selected...

    Old bottom paint removal

My 2001 Grady Express has enjoyed the benefits of ablative bottom paints for only half half of its life. Before that each year the hull would get another spring coat of bottom paint building upon the thicknesses of the prior years, That build up has been coming off down to the gelcoat in small...

    Holding tank/Macerator access in a 265 Express

My 2001 265 Express lost the use of the pump 3 or 4 years ago and after recognizing the challenge of access and cost, I too pushed it off my things to do list - the same reasons as SkunkBoat. My holding tank gets very little use- captains orders! Ha!

    Yamaha HPDI 200 low idle

I suppose that the more motors that can be shown to behave the same can eliminate many possible causes -and perhaps point to new ones...so hear goes: About 3 years ago my 2001 HPDi 200's also both started idling low at first start and more so when outside temp was cold. They would keep...

265 Express , starboard vent window replacement?

I just joined this forum and it was timely. My 2001 265 Express w twin 200 HPDI's in need of its second vent window. I replaced the port window a few years ago with the help of Marine Specialty Glass. The starboard window was lost in a similar manner as you described just a week ago...
