I agree with NikM820. What you need to do is sand the wood. Then paint it with something like Awlgrip.....looks fantastic.

If the hatch is going to stay permanantly, I would recommend using 3m 5200 or 4200 if you are going to remove occasionally.

Seasick, two screws pushed the rubber seal down so its tight (the screw tightened up). The other 3 did not tighten nor did they "catch" if you will. The top of the fuel sender is obviously metal the beneath it is the rubber seal.

The screws were not difficult to remove at all....
