Thanks for the responses, don't remember the model of Simrad I was looking at but I was impressed that the rudder feedback was wireless which could save a lot of aggravation.

Just wondering what brand of autopilots are people using on twin outboard boats, and pros & cons of that particular models. I was looking at Simrad any opinions???

No I have not seen that problem myself.As far as the corrosion on the exhaust manifold the cost has come down to repair,my mechanic told me it would cost about 2400.00 total to do my F225.I have a 02' F225 with 530hrs and so far no problems and we check every year for signs of something going...

HB Steve I'm still in the negotiating process on the 282 in Virginia, they shut down for 10 days for the holidays.Found a couple more 282 Sailfishes that I liked to pursue farther, so we will see how it goes.

To any one who has this engine on there boat how many hours do you have on motor, what if any problems have you experienced. And finally what do you believe the life of the motor would be (total hours) if the proper maintenance schedule is followed.

It looks like a clean boat just put an offer on the boat today.I have look at other manafacturers of boat but always come back to the Grady Whites I couldn't be happier with my Gulfstream its been a great boat and truth be told, if it had a stand up head I would keep the boat but with a wife & 2...

I now looking at an 2005 Sailfish in Virginia at a price you paid for your 282. With very similar hours as your.And your right to jump to a Marlin in the condition I want put it out of my price range,so hopeful this Sailfish is as advertised.

I have considered jumping up to the marlin but a lot of the ones for sale have the F225s on the back.And I have an 2002 F225 on the back of my gulfsream and its been fine,I know about the corrosion issue with this motor have been discussed at length.I just feel it would be a little underpowered...

Yes that was the boat I Iooked at in Maryland.It looked so much better on the internet.The boat has potential but the way I keep my boat it would cost me a fair amount of money to get it back in shape, I will say the motors had less than 150hrs and looked clean. I was on a friends 07 Sailfish...
