    Steering slow to engage

2005 282 Sailfish it takes about half a turn of the wheel for the steering to engage. It worsens over time. System was bled at least once last summer. Yard plans to bleed again and the drop it in the water and run it to see if that does it. No visible signs of leakage. Thoughts?

    2005 282 Sailfish Moisture Issue

I did not. After discussing this with a number of folks, I decided not to do that. We live on the Chesapeake Bay and are fair weather boaters. We are typically 15 minutes from fishing and never more than 40 minutes. We also don’t see the need for WOT. The boat has been great with only minor...

    282 Sailfish Canvas and Seats

Wife and I went down yesterday to install our new canvas On our 2005 282 Sailfish with no success. We couldn’t get the canvas to slide fully into the tracks. We tried soap but no joy. Any tips?

    Feedback on 282 Sailfish (2002 to 2008)

Brought my boat home. Running good. It has a two bank charger which I think I will swap out for a three bank - any recommendations? Head is not pumping water in but that will be a quick fix that I will handle when the parts arrive. One other issue - the bilge is filling too quickly. I brought...

    Feedback on 282 Sailfish (2002 to 2008)

Just purchased a 2005. No trailer or AC. Boat is clean and gel coat is in good shape. Motors have 470 hours. One was fine but had to replace a powerhead on the other and did the kits. Paid $23k and will have about $40k in it after repairs, some new parts, new canvas all around from A & J Canvas...

    New canvas windows replacement

I reached out to a local, who quoted me $3800 and over $4000 with Strata glass. A & J is $2800 with Strata. They also send me the tool to do the snaps and I send it back. All of that, plus the fact that they do them for Grady and have the old patterns, made this an easy choice for me.

    New canvas windows replacement

They have patterns, but due to a flood several years ago they don't have all of them. Have your hull number ready when you call them. They also advised me several days ago that they have had some issues of late with canvas being too short. They indicated that this was probably due to fittings...

    282 Sailfish Canvas and Seats

Ah, I see. Thanks for letting me know. I suppose there are some tricks to getting that started and it takes time. Or perhaps I can just get started off my originals? A&J quoted me $2800 including delivery. For $1000 I can do the snaps. They are very nice folks. No joy on finding original...

Thanks gents. I'm gonna get back with A & J. I assume no issues with snaps lining up and such?

    282 Sailfish Canvas and Seats

Thanks. Maryland. I think A&J got my phone number mixed up because I spoke to them first but never heard back from them. I think I will call them Monday.

    282 Sailfish Canvas and Seats

I just got pricing from a local source on replacing the canvas enclosure and glass and the seats. I have asked if this is strata or not and have not yet received an answer, but I thought I would check on these prices as they seem high to me: Materials and labor to make and install your...
