Please Help. This price seems WAY too high.

It cost me a little north of 1,000.00 to have the plastic plug replaced on my Gil bracket. I have a 228G. Granted the marina spent a lot of time cleaning out the inside. My best advice is to never never remove that drain plug unless you are extremely competent and suspect that it may be leaking.

How do I not overfill my tank?

I use a towel, estimate how much fuel I will need and listen for the gurgle in the spout.

    sea water in bilge

I have 99 228G. I started noticing small amounts of water dribbling from the drain plug hole when it was pulled after each use and the boat on the forklift. It was never much or the same amount. Sometimes a half pint or so or none whether calm or sloppy seas. During the yearly maintenance this...

    228G Performance Info

My 228G with 4 aboard and full fuel and ice at 3800 cruises at 21 to 23 knots. I do have a hard top. This cost me about 500 RPMs to maintain the same speed. The top was well worth it. I have a 200 hpdi Yammy.

All Hail the Bilge Gods and Goddesses

Can you tilt the boat. . .I mean really tilt it? Could that allow it to slide to the sump in the stern?

226/228 hardtop- can someone measure theirs?

My 228-G is in storage at the marina about 85 miles from here so I can't just run out and get a measurment. However, I can tell you that with me standing at 6' 1" in the center, I have about 12 inches clearence. The top measures 6' fore and aft and 5' port to starboard. (Within an inch...

    Divorce and my grady

I wanted to reply with a bit of wisdom from "been there, done that", but after reading all the replys, I feel the need to call that old girl who met me at the door with papers over 40 years ago and tell her thank you! Now what was her name and where does she live. . .aw forget it. It is just...

What to look for in 22 Seafarer

Get a survey. . . best advice. I have a 228G. The only complaint that I have is that this boat with the motor on the bracket has a mind of its own when backing down. No, I am not new to boating. Some owners of this model advocate using a lot of up tilt. I now tilt the motor up when backing. I...

    228 Seafarer question

The simple answer from me is No. However, bayrat, it probably should be done. I have a 228G and think that I can reach the ball valve from the starboard hatch on the transom. I will look next time I am on the boat. Sorry no one has answered your question. Bob

24 explorer hardtop fit 226 seafarer?

First, I don't know if it will fit. Second, you can make almost anything fit. Having just replaced a bimini with a hardtop, I have learned several things about hardtops. One of the more important and least discussed it the attachment to the boat. It simply is not simple. What may look good...

    Towing a 228G

In a tight I have pulled my 228G with my Honda Ridgeline. I do not recommend it. Yes, it is within the gross weight. When I really want to go somewhere, I use my friend's diesel Ford Excursion. I agree with someone above, no such thing as overkill.
