    GW customer service?

Was trying to determine exactly what control box was installed in my boat when it was manufactured. The dealer instructed me to contact the factory with my HIN and they could track exactly what went into my boat. This is not a big deal. I realize some things slip through the cracks.

    GW customer service?

Did GW's customer service go down the crapper since covid? Prior to covid when i had a question, would get a response from the factory rep. (I forgot her name but she was very good) within a couple of days. Sometimes the same day. Over a week ago I reached out to the factory with a question I...

    trim tabs anodes

On the advice of the late "Tabman" from Bennett, I install an aluminum disk type anode on top of my tabs. The anodes come in pairs so I only use 1/2 of it so not to interfere with the tab action by mounting anything on the bottom. I boat in salt but the boat is slipped in brackish water. At the...

I got to cross The Bar

A couple of years ago I spent a couple of days in Astoria. Stayed at the cannery hotel under the bridge which we enjoyed. Being an east coaster, I did not know a whole lot about the Columbia bar. But after spending some time there and going to the museum I got an education. I never knew the CG...

Freedom 285, 2014, replacing bolsters and backrests

I have never removed the bow backrests from my 255 but will need to in the near future for the same reason. Inside the port side head compartment in my boat, there appears to be some plugs in the forward bulkhead. My guess is that there are screws under those plugs. Inside the helm compartment...

    2022 Freedom 235 electrical issues

With the batteries switched off, do you hear anything running? Just looking to eliminate a stuck bilge pump switch that could kill the batteries when the boat is unattended.

2023 Freedom 235 winterize water systems

For my raw water washdown and livewell I purchased one of those "fake-a-lake" plunger type devices. With a short section of garden or similar hose, I connect the FAL to a common submergible pump found in any home store. I drop the pump into a 5 gallon pail with a couple of gallons of...

Fresh water gunwal shower nozzle and faucet will not work

Have you checked the in-line screen(s)located just prior to the pump? Had the same issue with mine and the screen was gunked with algae. Cleaned it out and water ran fine.

Running a Freedom 285 in the winter?

We run our 255 late into October with the panels up in RI/CT. The cockpit stays nice and warm while the folks in the CC's are shivering.

    Re: Factory Canvas Color?

Great Lakes Boat Top was likely the OEM canvas supplier for your boat. They were for my 2011 Freedom. Call them and see if they still have the patterns. New panels can be had a lot cheaper than going with a custom canvas company. As far as your color question, I believe they used navy sunbrella.

    Transition to 275 or 285 from 225.

If you are not limited by size or budget, the 285 would be my choice. It is alot more boat than the 275. If I ever "upgrade" from my 255, it will be to the 285 since the 27 does not give me much more than what I already have.
