    Sea Star Hydraulic Steering

The yard staff and I are going to re-bleed the system. We are using a power purge this time to help insure the bleeding($75). BTW, after replacing the pump under the helm wheel last month, the Sea Star steering went immediately back to the original problem of a loose helm when going from...

    Sea Star Hydraulic Steering

Hi guys. Installed a new pump under the helm to correct the problem of continuous turning of the wheel. Also, the steering system was properly bled as per the Sea Star procedure. Wheel and steering work fine now. BUT . . . when the Grady is at the dock and the Yamaha 225 engine is in the up...

    Overnighting in a Freedom 225?

Graybeard: We have a 225 also. The bottom line for us is that a good night's uninterrupted sleep goes a long way for an enjoyable weekend cruise. Get a motel room and sleep tight. You'll be much happier especially if you want the wife to go cruising.

2000 Yamaha Two Stroke - warning alarms please comment

Chain: RE: the overheating - It never hurts to change out the water circulator in the lower unit. The battery: clean the posts and tighten down real good when re-connecting. If this doesn't work the suggestions in the other posts may be the way to go. I had both of your issues and these...

Northwest Marine in Pawcatuck, CT has a Master Yamaha mechanic named Mark. He is very good. You would probably have to work out the logistics.

    Gulfstream 23 vs Freedom/tournament 22

6'1". My wife is 5'6" and she has the same issue with the top of the windshield frame being in her line of sight on the Freedom 225; not so on the Tournament 225 with its higher winshield. BTW, we were in Savannah over the Holidays and loved every minute. The weather, food and people were...

    Gulfstream 23 vs Freedom/tournament 22

wlewis: I have a Tournament 225 and have ridden in a Gulfstream. The Gulfstream is a different animal altogether due to the extra beam, length and weight. You are correct to observe the low windshield height on the Freedon 225 (which has been lowered from the original 225 Tournament height)...

    New Man On The Block

If the hull and topsides on the 2008 have not been kept in great shape, the engine most likely may not have received proper maintenance either. Also, the 2008 is going on five years old and that is when boat and engine parts start to fail due to age and use. This means many dollars. Same...

    New Man On The Block

Vic has an excellent point. The dual consoles offer a lot more on deck room and versatility. If you don't need overnight sleeping accommodations you should take a peek at the GW 225 or if you can squeeze it in to your slip a GW 255.

    New Man On The Block

Congrats on the townhouse and boatslip. Here is my two cents based on 50 years of boating. For your size family a 23 foot Gulfstream is the minimum you should buy and even at that it will be a tight fit, but it should work. If you can possibly swing a GW Journey 258 (25 feet) budget-wise and...

    water in the bilge?

Fishone: After a hard rain water in the bildge is almost automatic (on any boat). My T 225 bildge was dry as a bone but after a hard rain last week I had water in the bildge even though I have styrofoam cups in the cup holders to keep water from draining into the bildge. (Forward and aft cup...
