I have a couple of broken springs on my window wipers that are causing the wipers to not function correctly. Has anyone replaced these springs or have a part number/where to buy replacements?

Never have I ever... replaced a spring. Just replace the arm.

However... IF you can find just the spring (try a place like AM Equipment)... you FIRST need to take the arm off. And that will likely be the most challenging part... and may result in cutting/breaking the arm... which means we're right back to replacing the arm. Long story short... focus on getting the arm off, first.

I just replaced the springs on my 2002 282 Sailfish. Of course I live where there are local providers of all things obscure and esoteric. I did not need to remove the arms which are bonded to the wiper motors with 20+years of aluminum oxide.

Fishing... I always thought it would be way too awkward to get the spring off without removing the arm. Good for you!

Adding onto what Hookup said - that allows to switch to a J-hook connector so can buy replacement blades anywhere

The wiper system definitely lived it's life and then some. I was not able to get the arm off despite prying with a block of wood and screw driver, lifting the latch, and watching multiple videos online. Left it soaking with penetrating oil but it has to wick up into the the shaft so that seems unlikely to work. Guessing the arms never been removed and has welded itself on. Might have to cut if off with a grinder and try to figure out a replacement motor/arm set. They are probably all the originals from 1994. A park function would be really nice and might consider adding in an automatic "rain" sensor oiption too. If anyone has a good replacement I'm all ears, otherwise I'll be searching. Grady has almost no info on these older boats from the 90's.

A good penetrating oil will absoultey wich uphill. But I wouldn't expect it to work magic - and certainly not within a day. It may take at least a few applications over a few days to even have a chance of working.

Can also try...

-- Tapping the top with a hammer to "shock" the corroded bond loose (flip the cover open or just cut it off)
-- With the cover off, use a Dremel to slowly cut a channel in one side - meaning, stop before you hit the motor stud threads. At that point, you may break it free... or even split it with a large screwdriver/chisel by twisting or using pliers
-- Cut a channel on BOTH sides and do the above... you may even be able to pull a chunk of it off with pliers because you know how two weak spots.

I'm assuming you were able to get the cover up over the wiper/shaft nut (for lack of a better term). The shaft is splined and the wiper presses on. Keep soaking in penetrating oil. Eventually you may need to cut a vertical slot with a Dremel tool and try to split it.

That wiper arm is available from NAPA. They are heavy duty truck and bus stainless and may hold up better than automotive ones.

Old post of mine...
If they are the old “school bus” style blades Napa carries them. Only place I found.

Windshield wiper blades.
NAPA 60-1870 arm and blade. $9.99.
Blade only 60-1805 $5.99.
Trico 70-180 may work as well.
