    OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS

When I blew up the Johnnie, I did just what you suggested. When the flywheel wouldn't turn I knew something was wrong. Last night sounded the exact same. I didn't want to crank it over again and potentially do more damage-but I knew the Harbor Master or Sea Tow wouldn't come w/o at least trying...

    OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS

Ah Bob! I knew I could count on you for a reply. Even more obvious. Grady pulled safety lanyard out! The main reason for the post is because I was ready to call Ethan @ SeaTow.

    OVERLOOKING THE OBVIOUS

I was running in last night when all of a sudden-engine shut down. Immediately put out the anchor and allowed the panic to subside. Sounded eerily familiar to when I blew up the Johnnie. When I went to fire it up, I got a nano-revolution of the flywheel and the oil buzzer was sounding. (1st...

I think he meant 76. That is NOT an '86 hull.

Steering hard to port while underway

Sorry, I misunderstood the question- I thought it was pulling. It's very easy to adjust. I believe it's a 1/2" socket-or a 5/8"-and a socket extender. The black rubber square above the cavitation plate covers the nut to keep water out. Whatever way you turn it, it will effect the opposite side...

Steering hard to port while underway

I may have misunderstood the question. Is it pulling to one side and you have to hold the wheel to keep it from veering off or is it physically harder to turn to port?

Steering hard to port while underway

The touque you're feeling is probably from the right handed prop on the engine and I'd be willing to bet that you're low on hydraulic fluid. Your skeg zinc will comp. for some torque but not that much.

    Prop Question for 228G

If you're teetering on plane @ 4200 RPM's something is WAY off. You should be cruising at 4200, 30-33 mph, dep. on load. Tabs down engine down @ hole shot? Get boat up on plane and then adjust running angle (w/ trim & tabs). 19 is too much for 228.

    Prop Question for 228G

you can go up or down 1/4-1/2" w/o much of an issue. Once you get 3/4", your performance will change. Remember, up in pitch, down in RPM's.

$67,785 for a 20 foot boat! Do I laugh now?

    Hydraulic Lock ???

From the way you describe it, it sounds very similar to a situation I had. I was cruising and engine made a not-so-pleasant noise before rrrr, rrrring to a stop and the flywheel would not manually turn. Among other things, the main issue was that one of the cylinders top dead center (TDC) was...

1986 Seafarer 227 scupper issues - New grady owner

scups The scups on the transom should be at the water line. The drains (and the deck of the boat) are ABOVE the water line-hence a self-bailing cockpit. Gravity does its job. Thats why the drains go down before doing a 90 degree aft and out the scup. Unless you have standing water in the...

    Hydraulic Lock ???

Can you manually turn the flywheel? To piggyback on gw204, if it did a half to a full revolution and stopped and won't turn by hand, you've got a bent something.-or seized.

    Looking into Pursuit 375

rode the 30' GW and 30' Pursuit- I thought the GW gave a better smoother ride. I think the 36' is designed from the 30' hull? (Ray Hunt). Both quality, sharp looking boats. I would trust a sea trial over my potentially bias opinion, though!

    cleaning, polish and wax

White was the founders name, not necessarily the hull color. What you are removing is 23 years of oxidation. Buffed out my buddies Hydra-Sports and he thought I was removing the gel-coat. "Thats your original color, Dude".

fresh water hook up - 96 johnsone oceanrunner 225

5 to 10 minutes is a long time especially if you're going to run the engine. Again, you're just flushing the salt water out. Jehines is right about the Salt Away or Salt-X. Both great products.
