Advice on first Grady White purchase

I've said many times, "The only boat better than a Grady-White is a bigger Grady-White" If you're contemplating smaller Vs. bigger, I say lean towards bigger. You'll save $ in the end by doing the upgrade now. I went from a 228 to a 265 and then to a 330. As I get older, I appreciate every...

    Access to generator

"does that deck panel just sit on the lip on the vertical bulkhead behind the seat" >>> I think the answer to your question is yes. That vertical section ( sort of "L" shaped) simply slides into position there and the sides (2 or 3" on each side) should be caulked just like the horizontal...

    Transom Failure Incidents

Late Again - Excellent post + photos. Thank you. Your boat is a 1994 and your wet transom hung in there for 27 years. That alone is impressive. It also shows that wet plywood doesn't last forever. The aluminum strapping ("L" shaped brace) connecting the plywood transom to the stringers is a...

    Transom Failure Incidents

Mike - If you didn't rebuild your transom, do you think you would have had a catastrophic failure? Did you notice if your transom was flexing when standing on the lower unit or while underway? Curious. Thanks

    Transom Failure Incidents

I'll count the 265 rollover off New Jersey as catastrophic incident number two.

    Transom Failure Incidents

I'll count the above as one.

    Transom Failure Incidents

As Grady-White Owners, I know we all fret and worry about our "wet transoms". We obsess over the bang cap, and worry about wet rot, weakened transoms and the like. Of course, hired Marine Surveyors scare us with their inspection reports (rightfully so I suppose). My question here is - who on...

    Repower 330

Regardless if the boat's transom can truly handle HP in excess of the manufacturer's spec., you will likely have a hard time insuring it. But don't take my word on this. Check with your insurance contact. I would make my decision based on that.

    Boat seesawing on mooring

My answer: no. If you are light on fuel that could affect your boat while anchored. The 330 carries one ton of fuel when full.

    33 express dead bait!

You may have done nothing wrong. The bait will die overnight if your harbor had a Red Tide (depleted oxygen) or a high water temp.

NJ Offshore Wind Farms Pros/Cons/Conspiracy theories

I'm in California so please enlighten me. What exactly is killing the whales from this program? Underwater blasting? If so, can't they deploy the gear without underwater blasting?

    2002 GW 330 Express - w/ TRIPLE Suzuki 300's

IMHO - I think it's a really bad idea to put 900 horsepower on a 2002 330. Kinda like putting a 10,000 pound boat on a trailer rated at 5,000 pounds.

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

Yes, Yes and Yes. Seasick (above) said it right. And FWIW, I had a 228 for years and loved it. Until I bought a 265. Loved that one too. Loved the 265 until I bought a 330. Best boat ever for me. The common thread in my boat purchases: BEAM. Go wide and you'll always be smiling!

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

There is alot we know and alot we don't know. Hookup said it right: "The real lesson here is you need early warning that your hull is filling up with water before it reaches the tipping point." So, one thing is for certain, we should all have High Water Alarms in our bilges. That's my advice.

    330 Express Freshwater Washdown Hose

Thinking that cutting an inspection port behind the sink may be much easier? <<<< Negative. You need to go from the bottom up (in aft cabin ceiling). After you remove the ceiling panel, you can cut and insert an access port there if you want (for the next time!). Sometime after 2002, the GW...

2004 33' Grady White Express Light Accessories and Navigation 3 questions

My input to you: For #1 and #3, purchase a multi meter. Become familiar with how to test voltage on your circuits. As a boat Owner, you'll need to learn this anyway. Only then, can you diagnose what's wrong in your spreader light and FW Tank circuit. For example, if you are SURE you are...

    Custom dash panel ?

Tap Plastics has the material you want + will sell you the all important jig saw blade to cut the material. I bought enough material to make two panels in case I screwed one up.

    SCAD tank level monitor

Looks great. I especially like the idea of installing it without the need to "open" the holding tank :)
