If you still have the deck open, follow the vent line(the smaller line next to the fill line) from the tank. The vent should be on the side of the boat usually below the filler cap or you have the combination fill and vent filler cap.

Before you do anything make sure you have enough diesel in the tank and also make sure is clean. Our generators don't burn much and the diesel stays in the tank for a long time and gets contaminated. Use some additives to clean thing up and use it every fill up.

If you always drain the boat and you get water out of the drain, there is your problem. If it rains and this happens might be rain water (test to see) if it's not raining and you have this problem, you might have bigger problems than you think. Check ALL the thru hulls below the water line ASAP...

Your pump should pump water without the A/C running, if it doesn't, your pump is your problem.

If it is as you say 20 yards wide channel, boat #2 has no business trolling at the mouth of a so narrow channel because he's putting in danger him and other boaters(i.e might get thrown at the the rocks trying to avoid/steer away from the trolling boat). Also, if the boat #1 would slow down it...

Those boats were designed for that kind of anchor, maybe yours is bigger than it should be.

Took me a little more than two weeks(working after work for 2-3 a day) to do this and i still have to connect everything on "the other side" of the cable runs. This is on my Formula 233 full restoration i am doing.

Where you going out from? Do you have enough fuel to make it back in case weather turns a bit bad? The boat is capable of doing that trip but you HAVE to pick your days.

You are under propped. You need 15 3/4 prop for your boat. I bet you revving more than 6000 RPMS. Had the same boat(2007) with the same motors and i was getting 1.2-1.3 at 30-32 mph.
