Excessive water in forward bilge 305 Express

My 305 is dry stored and always drained when pulled out. When we run it or leave it in the water for a day or more and run the forward bilge an excessive amount of water is expelled. Can anyone provide anything I should be checking?

If you always drain the boat and you get water out of the drain, there is your problem. If it rains and this happens might be rain water (test to see) if it's not raining and you have this problem, you might have bigger problems than you think. Check ALL the thru hulls below the water line ASAP.
To check, first dry the boat complete and then wrap some toilet paper around each seacock, if it gets wet, ............... you get the idea. Good luck.

Meanwhile, the boat is running great and we caught our limit of lobster today so life is good in the Keys!!

i would also check to see if it is fresh or salt. fresh could indicate a water tank leak. if it's salt, make sure you go over every thru hull and hose clamp (including scuppers). i would make this a very high priority as fiberglass boats don't generally take water unless there is a leak. good luck, ron

one other thought, check your gasket around the fold up hatch access and the scuppers. washdown water will get into the bilge if it isn't up to speed.

Hey Guys,

We have established that it is fresh water. Boat is primarily used for diving, spearfishing and hunting lobster so a lot of water is used in the cockpit to rinse off gear, people, etc. Have noticed that the pump cycles about every minute so thinking there could be a leak along the line. Will continue to troubleshoot and post info in case this can be of help to others.

does your rear deck hatch swing open on hinges? if so, check that also. the gasket might be collapsed or not there. good luck, ron
