Who do you have your boat insured through?

Yup, agreed. This is where I “slip” my boat.

    Running the engine at home

My DT is doing what it should so no need at the moment. It was Rudy’s marine I got that quote from about two years back. I imagine it’s gone up a little since.

    Simrad Go9 eval

Finally got to put my new Simrad Go9 thru it’s paces today and I’m blown away ! It’s super easy to use and I credit it with putting me on bass today that I wouldn’t have found with my old Faruno. The transducer was mounted on line with the starboard side chine and though I was worried that the...

Who do you have your boat insured through?

Reason I ask is because I was watching one of those “boat fails” clips where a newbie yacht owner blasted past a marina rocking the hell out of all the boats in it and apparently prompted a number of insurance claims. Granted that’s extreme but I got to thinking what if I zig when I should zag...

    Running the engine at home

These old tractors were made to rip a plow thru soil so moving trailers are child’s play for them. It’s pretty short and I fabricated a front hitch for it so I face directly towards the trailer making it easy to back it into its spot on the carport.

    Running the engine at home

$10k Saved ? Last I checked I could get a F200 in Delaware for $15k + rigging. Another thing is the DT I’m running now is not rebuildable having a pressed crank and rod assembly which btw is no longer available so when it goes that’s it. Yamaha, OMC, and Mercury’s are rebuildable. Also when I...

    1999 209 escape propeller question

Don’t think you’ll need trim tabs.

    1999 209 escape propeller question

Should be the same as on a 20 Overnighter with a Yamaha F200, which runs best with a stainless 19 pitch prop. Tried and proven.

    Running the engine at home

It is simple, maybe a little goofy but it works. I think it actually uses less water than leaving the hose fully open on the muffs with water spraying out everywhere. The lawn wasn’t anywhere near as flooded doing it this way as it usually is and like I said the discharge stream never got warm...

    Running the engine at home

It’s kinda like not reinventing the wheel. The Yamaha F200 weighs 15 lbs more than the 2 stroke DT225 and uses the same bolt pattern. Seen quite a few paired with a 19p stainless prop hung on my generation Overnighter and it’s a decent match. WOT speed is a little less being a 200, 43 mph...

    Running the engine at home

Ya, also when you flush like this it’s that much more obvious what a 2 stroke engine puts out its exhaust. Lotta truth I n this meme... If this engine and I ever part company it’ll get replaced by a Yamaha F200 4 stroke.

    Running the engine at home

Lol That would be nasty ;) Water stayed cool though. looked like a cauldron but clearly provided more water thru the engine than the muffs do, and I didn’t get sprayed with water or wet having to reposition the muffs over and over.

    Running the engine at home

I trailer my boats, always have. I always flush my engine after every saltwater trip and if I haven’t run it in awhile I like to run it on the muffs at home to be sure it’s good to go. Problem is on my DT225 besides the ports that get covered by the muffs there’s a rectangular grate on the...

Re powering an old Grady .

I would think the stumbling block for electric powered boats is weight. The average Tesla is about 5,000 lbs. which is about 1,500 lbs. more than a comparable engine driven automobile. Their going to have to find lighter batteries if they want comparable performance. Slow is fine for lakes but...

Can always bring a gas powered generator ;)

Re powering an old Grady .

Guessing you want something more eco-friendly . Honestly the electric option for boats right now is nowhere near realistic compared to gas powered outboards. You can take comfort in that the modern 4 stroke outboards like a pair of Yamaha F200’s are far less polluting to the environment than the...

    208 trim tabs

I’ve had my ‘87 204C for some 7 years and never had a problem getting my boat to trim properly without tabs. It’s got a 225 on back so I don’t know if that makes a difference but it planes without hesitation without tabs. I’d suggest you make yourself familiar with your boat first before you...

    208 Bilge Pump

As your primary pump 3,000 would kinda be overkill, too much. 1,100 is a pretty good pump for a 20’ boat. I understand having the 3,000 as a back up though. Mount that 3,000 with a float switch set a little higher than the main pump. That way should something bad happen it might just make the...
